The APIA has proceeded with the development of the Internet Web Site.
An essential element of the web site is a communications facility that will enable APIA members to disseminate information relevant to their industry and to encourage dialogue between members. APIA needs to be visible to its members, to be seen to be working in their interests and to be offering services that encourage participants in the industry to join the association. Initially the web site will be a window on the vehicle parts supply industry and will list all members as preferred reliable parts suppliers. There is the opportunity for each member to have their own individual site linked to the association and we hope everyone will take advantage of this.
A successful proven web based trading facility has been offered to APIA free from our sister organisation in Australia – APRAA. We are able to utilise their developed system virtually for free with the only costs being those related to daily operating. It has been determined that this is a very inexpensive facility and one that APIA can host without significant drain on members funds. The site will be made available on a totally voluntary basis to those members who wish to use it. There will be no fee payable to the association and APIA will not become involved in any way in administering or maintaining the service. There is no conflict of interests with other commercial parts sourcing services as members are free to utilise any service they wish. To the contrary, member groups are encouraged to link their own programs to the APIA site and to utilise all other services that will provide them with additional business. This site is a service to members and one that should be seen as complimentary to other initiatives throughout the industry. Their can be no ‘success’ or ‘failure’ of the service as it is not a business or competing in the market. Members will only use it if they find an advantage.
The site will feature a communications link between members, an industry trading post (eg. if you have equipment to sell or want employees or even wish to sell your business). There will be a News page where anything of interest to APIA members can be read. Very importantly it will explain to the public why they should deal with an APIA member and list all members for potential customers to easily locate them and to link through to their web pages.
