& seatbelt Pretensioners are pyrotechnic devices - this means they contain
an explosive - and that means they need careful handling and a responsible
disposal process.

Airbags and Pretensioners may still
be sold under the LTA guidelines. However, surplus and obsolete
stock should be responsibly disposed of in an approved
manner.

The NZ Defence Force provides a service to collect and
dispose of commercial explosive devices – that includes flares, airbags and
pretensioners.
