| About |
The Automotive Parts Industry Association (APIA) is a non
profit organisation informally formed in 1991 and formally incorporated in 1993.
It currently represents and services approximately 130 Automotive Parts
Recyclers and Aftermarket Parts suppliers throughout New Zealand.
APIA
members supply the vast majority of recycled and aftermarket parts sold in New
Zealand – they represent about 70% of the parts that are sold as an economical
alternative to new OE parts throughout the country each year.
Members of
APIA exist for one purpose – to provide good quality parts to vehicle owners and
their insurers at highly competitive prices that help keep the cost of motoring
affordable.
APIA provides educational, regulatory and industry
information; as well as other services, to its membership in an effort to
facilitate continued education, growth and evolution of the Auto Parts Recycling
industry. Its members strongly believe that recycling is a responsible
industry with environmental and economic benefit to New Zealand. Without
salvaging and active recycling of valuable pre-owned vehicles, a huge resource
would be wasted. Accident damaged and vehicles that have reached the end
of their life still have many original parts that are perfectly good and ideal
to reuse in repairs of identical vehicles. Insurers and repairers not only know
the value in using recycled parts but appreciate their social responsibility to
do so.
APIA has close affiliations to APRAA (Auto Parts Recyclers
Association of Australia Inc), many other international automotive industry
organisations and all Associations serving those involved in the Automotive
Repair Industry throughout New Zealand. They also work closely with the
Collision Repair Association (CRA), the Insurance Council of New Zealand and
Land Transport New Zealand (LTNZ) - formerly (LTSA).
APIA is the
only national association serving the Automotive Parts Salvage and Recycling
industry in New Zealand.
